But there is much more mods for SimCity 4 (it is an older game, and less heavy for system).Īnyway, i like this game much more then SC4, because it is more simple and looks much better, but performance on mine PC are just terrible even without mem. other cities, but trade with OmniCorp is not the smartest move, there is mods, and most of the mods from older versions of the game works on this one, new maps etc.

Now, if some of you have and play this game with high-end PC, or better PC then this old monster^^, can you share your experience with this game? Or if someone knows some workaround for it, it would be nice to hear.Ĭlick to expand.Well, it's much more simplified compared to Sim City 4 (to be honest, i like that), compared to old version (2009, i didn't played 2011 or 2010 if there is one) it is basically same, but now for solo mode you have trade with "Omnicorp" and ofc. Our Cities XL 2012 Trainer is now available and supports STEAM. Obviously, the more rugged the landscape, the more difficult the map is to build on. These maps are where you will create your city, and offer a variety of different climates and landscapes to build on. I read somewhere that even ppl with i7 CPU's and high-end PC's have same problem. There are currently 62 maps included (valid for Cities XL 2012). It doesn't matter if i play at 1024*768 or 1600*1200, high or low etc., it working almost the same. I did allot of tweaks and even OC for this game, successfully set CPU to use Ganged mode (even tho it is Athlon II), OC'ed it at 3.36Ghz, did some BIOS and OS tweaks (all i know), and got very little performance improvement. Now, this game use only one core of CPU, and have some serious memory leaks, but, even without memory leak (when i run game, not after 1 hour or so.) it lags way too much with population only 600 000. Most resolution i play at are 1152*864 or 1280*960, and in most games i get acceptable framerates (around 60 or more) with tweaked graphic to look nice (high in allmost all games), and always with 4xAA. I know it is outdated (alot), but to tell the truth, im still satisfied with it, and didn't come up on game that gived me problems i can't resolve. In the end, Cities XL 2012 is the best city-building game available right now, but it just doesn’t add enough to be worth a purchase for owners of the previous entries in the series.Ok, as you can see from the left side, most of the time i use this PC even for gameing.
It is worth noting that owners of Cities XL 2011 can pay half price for the upgrade, though. The only real difference is that there are a number of new buildings and maps available this time around. It is essentially the same game as Cities XL 2011…which was essentially the same game as Cities XL. There is just one, tiny, problem with Cities XL 2012. The graphics in Cities XL are fairly high-quality, and your cities will look great whether you are zoomed out as far as possible or watching your citizens walk down main street from eye level. For some reason, Cities XL requires a set amount of intercity trade to take place before a city is considered worthy of these advances, and no one area of the world contains all the resources needed to run a modern, high-level economy. Unfortunately, you will have to create multiple cities in order to gain access to the more advanced buildings and important resources, whether you want to do so or not. And it will take quite a bit of skill to successfully navigate the pitfalls of running an economy, especially as you create more cities. The only real limit on the growth of a city is your ability to plan and manage the budget, welfare, and infrastructure of your citizens and city. You will do so, not by placing individual buildings, but by zoning the land throughout your city as residential, commercial, or industrial areas, along with creating the various public and service buildings that are required for growth and prosperity. There are around 60 highly-detailed maps to choose to build your cities on, each of which has enough space to build a thriving metropolis.
At its worst, it is no more than a minor upgrade on a game that has been iterated on once already.Ĭities XL exemplifies the city-building genre in many ways. At its best, Cities XL 2012 brings back the memories of endless city creation over a decade ago.
A time when we all spent countless hours of our lives playing SimCity 2000. Cities XL 2012 is, in some ways, a throwback to the past.
